40 Hours for the Forty Acres (40 for Forty) is The University of Texas at Austin’s university-wide day of giving. Twice a year alumni, students, faculty, friends, parents, and staff come together for 40 hours to give to the people, places, and programs at UT that mean the most to them.
The event will start at 6 am on April 6th and run through 10 pm on April 7th.
Matching Challenges
There are challenges during the two-day event that create an opportunity for your donation to get matched:
- Student Support Kickoff Match
April 6 from 6:00 AM – 8:00 AM CDT
The first $5,000 in gifts made within this period to student support initiatives will receive a match. - Student Support Match
April 6 from 8:00 – 10:00 PM CDT
The first $2,500 in gifts made within this period to student support initiatives will receive a match. - Midnight Madness Match
April 6 at 11:00 PM – April 7 at 1:00 AM
The first $5,000 in gifts made within this period by UT alumni will receive a match. - Longhorn Parent Brunch Match
April 7 from 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM CDT
The first $5,000 in gifts made within this period by parents of currently enrolled UT students will receive a match (for gifts up to $250) - Student Support Match
April 7 from 3:00 PM – 5:00 PM CDT
The first $5,000 in gifts made within this period to student support initiatives will receive a match.
How to Give

The first section of the form is titled “Donate.” Ensure you select:
- Participating Group: McCombs School of Business
- Fund Designation: Other
- Please designate gift below: Scott Hemsell Memorial Scholarship

The last section of the form is titled “Final Steps.” Select:
- If your gift is in honor or memoriam, please select below.
- In Memory of
- Please identify the person or organization that this gift is on behalf of:

Your gift is time-stamped when you complete the Donate, Contact Information, and Final Steps sections and click the “Donate Now” button. You will then be taken to a page to enter your credit card information and complete the transaction (but the time-stamp on your gift will be when the transaction was initiated, not completed).
All monies given and pledged will count toward the total necessary to endow a scholarship for promising Management Information Systems (MIS) students at the UT McCombs School of Business. For more information about the fund, click here.
